Solo Leveling became one of the most anticipated winter anime in 2024. It’s adapted from a Korean web manga called Manhwa. With A-1 Pictures, I think we don’t have to worry about the animation.

Solo Leveling revolves around a twenty-year-old boy named Sung Jin-woo who becomes the weakest hunter as he gets E-rank. At that time, hunters needed to beat monsters that appeared in “the Gate” which connected the real world with the realm of magic.

One day, Jin-woo’s life fully changing after one deathly mission. He never realizes that it may transform him into one of the world’s most fearsome hunters.

I watched Solo Leveling on Bstation, a platform for streaming anime. Thank God, with the presence of it, I wouldn’t depend on Netflix to watch anime legally.

The first episode was released with great responses and got a high rank on Myanimelist. I’m not reading the Manhwa but episode 1 was successful good, introducing the situation and main character. To be honest, I don’t like where the main character is powerless and turns out to be strong. But the plot here is not too fast or slow. We can still enjoy and be curious (at least for me who doesn't read Manwha) about what happens in the next episode.

It may sound a bit new for me to hear Korean names in the Japanese language. Japan and Korean culture want to be introduced in one anime as we can hear the soundtrack from the TXT, a Korean boyband. Also, I remember Tower of God or The Apothecary Diaries where the background of the story or source adaptation is not from a Japanese product. Solo Leveling could be worth waiting for every week.
